“Education is the single most powerful way to disrupt generational poverty”, Stated Pete Kadens, founder of “Hope Chicago” on the 60 Minutes program.

As seen on 60 Minutes, Pete Kadens brings his mission and powerful message to Saginaw to serve as keynote speaker for Saginaw Promise’s annual “Power of a Promise” Luncheon Fundraiser on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Horizons Conference Center (Saginaw) 11:30 to 1:15 PM –doors open 11 AM. Pete Kadens is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, millionaire and founder of “Hope Chicago”; his mission is to change lives, communities and their economies by working to eliminate barriers to higher education. Pete and “Hope Chicago” have committed to funding higher education and wrap around services for 30,000 Chicago students and their parents to attain higher education! The “Power of a Promise” luncheon will showcase Saginaw Promise program achievements, outcomes, scholars, include musical entertainment and a delicious luncheon meal.

Since 2012, the Saginaw Promise has awarded $1,072,000 in scholarships to 609 students. The Saginaw Promise believes in the power of postsecondary education to affect the future of Saginaw, its economy and quality of life for its families and students, which will reap benefits for  the entire Great Lakes Bay Region. The Saginaw Promise is working to assist students through information, programming and a “last dollar” scholarship to pursue postsecondary education. When “hope” is present, dreams and goals flourish. Since its formation, the Saginaw Promise has seen high school graduation rates increase, drop-out rates decrease, FAFSA completion grow and Saginaw Promise scholars earn program certificates and degrees! “Power of a Promise” proceeds will help fund Saginaw Promise programming and Scholarships.
